Association of German Florists

The Fachverband Deutscher Floristen GmbH (FDF) is the official interest and employer representation of German florists .

The association was founded as the Association of German Flower Shop Owners as part of the "International Art Exhibition and Great Horticultural Exhibition" on September 18, 1904 in Düsseldorf . It is divided into 15 regional associations, which are organized under the umbrella of the federal association based in Gelsenkirchen ( FloristPark International ). The Association of German Florists currently has around 5,000 members, owners of flower shops. The association is the publisher of the trade journal "Gestaltung und Sellers" (since 2014, previously "florist") and various specialist publications.

At the European level, the FDF is affiliated with the International Florist Organization Florint (until 2009 known as the Federation Europeenne des Unions Professionelles de Fleuristes ). Partner organizations of the FDF in German-speaking countries are the Federal Guild of Gardeners and Florists in Austria and the Swiss Florists' Association .

tasks

The purpose of the association includes branch representation and political lobbying, press and public relations work, the development and communication of floristic trends, sales and marketing support for the branch as well as trade fairs, presentations and competitions. Every two years the federal association organizes the German championship of florists, known in the branch under the name "Goldene Rose".

One focus is the training and further education for florists as well as master florist training. This includes the design of the floristic job description as well as the wide-ranging advanced and advanced training program for the industry. As part of the supporting program of the International Plant Fair IPM Essen, the FDF is presenting new floral design techniques and specialist retail concepts.

The association works with other industry institutions - such as the Central Horticultural Association, the Association of German Flower Wholesalers and Importers ( BGI ), Fleurop and the Holland Flower Office.

Trivia

The forerunner Association of German Flower Shop Owners began advertising a Mother's Day in the early 1920s to boost flower sales. A little later it became Mother's Day .
