Flag shoe

The flag shoe is a cup-shaped, usually leather receptacle at the lower end of the flag bandolier , in which the flag bearer places the lower end of the flagpole while wearing. In the case of mounted troops, the flag or standard was not carried with a bandolier. The flag shoe was then on the stirrup .
