Folding sheet
A folded sheet is a term used in print finishing.
A folding sheet refers to the part of the printing sheet that is processed as a unit in the folding machine. A folded sheet is therefore always a partial product of the printed sheet; this can contain one or more folded sheets. Ideally, the number of pages on the printing sheet should correspond to that of the folding sheet, due to the weight of the paper ( grammage ), the volume and the stiffness of the paper, the necessary processing steps in the bookbinding (depending on the end product to be created) and the size of modern printing machines it is always necessary to divide the number of pages on the printing sheet into several folding sheets.
Fold pattern
In order for the pages to appear in the correct order and orientation after folding , some of them must be printed upside down. The scheme by which the printed pages are arranged is called the fold pattern . An old synonymous technical term for fold pattern is also idler .
