The familiarity is created at the beginning of the 13th century, the feudal system related, institution in Hungary , with an aristocrat (dominus) people (familiares) recorded in his service (familia). The Familiares took an oath of allegiance and were paid by their master. It differed from the western feudal relationship primarily in that it could be resolved by both sides and was not hereditary. The Familiares administered the property of their masters and were members of their armed followers. The aristocrats preferred the lower nobility as familiar , as they knew the local conditions, had a certain prestige and also had their own goods as a guarantee for the managed property of the lords.
