The Familienkasse Bayern Süd , with around 870,000 customers and an annual financial volume of 3.45 billion euros, is one of the largest family funds in Germany and a supraregional contact for family policy benefits of the Federal Employment Agency (BA).
organization
The Familienkasse Bayern Süd is one of fourteen regional family funds of the BA and looks after families in southern Bavaria . The approximately 350 employees are spread across the headquarters in Regensburg and the branch offices in Augsburg, Deggendorf, Ingolstadt, Kempten, Passau and Pfarrkirchen.
Jurisdiction
The Familienkasse Bayern Süd is responsible for paying out child benefit under the Income Tax Act (EStG) and the child allowance under the Federal Child Allowance Act (BKGG) for the following districts and cities: Augsburg, Deggendorf, Freising, Ingolstadt, Kempten / Memmingen, Landshut / Pfarrkirchen, Munich , Passau, Regensburg, Rosenheim, Traunstein, Weilheim.
In addition, the Familienkasse Bayern Süd is a central support point for all nationwide child benefit cases in which a parent or child lives in Austria or Croatia or one parent is employed there and thus European child benefit law applies. She also looks after all cases throughout Germany that are to be assessed under an intergovernmental agreement with Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Morocco, Montenegro, Serbia, Tunisia and Turkey.
history
As part of a nationwide family benefits reform, the family benefits Memmingen and Weilheim with Kempten, Landshut with Regensburg and Rosenheim and Traunstein with parish churches were merged between 2004 and 2006. In a further reorganization on May 1, 2013, the family fund Bayern Süd was created in its current form from what were previously seven independent organizations.

KiZ pilot
The KiZ-Pilot is an interactive calculation aid with which potential applicants have been able to quickly and easily determine since August 2017 whether they are entitled to child allowance . The personal situation of customers is queried in moderated videos. Customers can find out more about the child allowance and check their individual entitlement despite being away from home.
Online portal
Since April 2018, Familienkasse Bayern Süd has had an online platform to enable child benefit applications to be submitted online.
Family cash concentration
In addition to the BA's family benefits office, there are over 12,000 other federal, state and municipal family benefits that look after more than 2 million child benefit cases in which at least one parent is employed in the public sector.
On January 1, 2017, the legislature created the prerequisites for a reform of these special responsibilities with the “Law on the Ending of the Special Responsibility of the Family Funds of the Public Service in the Federal Area”. The law is part of the federal government's program for a more citizen-friendly administration in Germany. This means that the BA's family benefits office can now take over child benefit cases from the public family benefits offices in stages until 2021, provided that they agree.
