Color system of the Franciscus Aguilonius
At the beginning of the 17th century , Franciscus Aguilonius developed his color system, which can be understood as the first trichromatic color system. Like Aristotle, Aguilonius started with white and black as the starting colors, the mixture of which leads to the “middle colors” red, blue and yellow. Yellow is closer to white and blue to black. The other colors can be mixed from these middle colors. For example, gold is the mixture of yellow and red. Ultimately, Aguilonius stuck to the Aristotelian linear theory of color formation, but took the first steps in the direction of a color wheel.
Athanasius Kircher developed the Aguilonis color system further by relating it to virtues and vices, for example.
