Farm Island is an island in Moosehead Lake in Maine , the northeasternmost state in the United States . With 980 acres , it is the third largest island in the lake after the two islands in the southern part of the lake, Sugar and Deer Island .
history
In 1912 archaeologists discovered artifacts in around 50 places around the lake and on the islands in 21 places . Arrowheads were also found on Farm Island and the other larger islands in the early 1920s .
In 1827 the island belonged to an AA Crafts. In 1903 the Kingsbury plantation was located there .
Today there is a place with a fireplace on the uninhabited island ( Farm Island Campsite ), for which a permit must be obtained.
