Farther Along is a gospel that deals with the needs of the world and the hope of the Christian faith.

The song was written in 1911 by Rev. WA Fletcher. It was mostly picked up in the country scene, especially in the bluegrass direction . The song was also performed by Johnny Cash on the album Personal File and Farther Along (The Gospel Music Of Johnny Cash Album Version) (Label: Gaither Music, 2007 Spring House Music Group) Other well-known artists include James Carson , Mississippi John Hurt , Van Dyke Parks and Kim Fowley .
