Fascia nuchae

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The fascia nuchae (from Latin nucha , 'the neck' ) covers the autochthonous neck muscles as part of the superficial neck fascia ( lamina superficialis ) . Caudally (rump) it merges into the superficial sheet of the thoracolumbar fascia . The fascia itself consists of two sheets: a superficial sheet ( Fascia nuchae superficialis ) and a deep sheet ( Fascia nuchae profunda ), which lies under the trapezius muscle and encloses the deep neck muscles from the back. In the middle of the deep leaf there is also a thickening, the ligamentum nuchae .
