Fast triodion, 1646

The Fast Triodion (Greek Τριῴδιον κατανυκτικόν, Triodion katanyktikon ; Church Slavonic Постнаѧ Трїωдь, Postnaja Triod ) is a liturgical book in the Orthodox churches . It contains the chants of the canon for the Great Lent before Easter and the Pre- Lent . The name Triodion comes from the fact that the canon does not contain eight, as usual, but only three odes .

There is singing

  • Monday Ode I, VIII, IX
  • Theft day Ode II, VIII, IX
  • Wednesday Ode III, VIII, IX
  • Thursday Ode IV, VIII, IX
  • Friday Ode V, VIII, IX
  • Saturday Ode VI, VII, VIII, IX

The pre-fasting and fasting period (from the Sunday of the Pharisee and tax collector , the third Sunday before the Great Lent, to Holy Saturday ) is therefore also referred to as the time of Triodion ( Триодь ).

In the following Easter period the flower triodion or the pentekostarion is used.
