Feather cut

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The feather cut , engl. Feather cut or Chelsea cut , is a short hairstyle in which the hair is thinned out "feathery" or cut short on the whole head and left partially long on the back of the head, on the bangs and in front of the ears.

The hair is cut shortest at the vertebra on the upper back of the head and from there it is gradually longer and longer in all directions. The hair is longest on the forehead, temple and neck and is thinned out depending on the thickness of the hair in order to achieve the feathery effect. The ears remain free.

The Feather Cut dates from the 1960s and was popularized by black Motown singers in a very short version.
