Fenderstek

The Fenderstek is a boatman's knot for attaching the fenders to the railing .

Knot

• 

  Lay a bay in the fender line and pull it against the railing.

• 

  Create a second bay with the part from which the fender hangs and push it through the first.

• 

  A third bay is formed with the loose part and pushed through the second bay.

• 

  Pull on the fender part. - Finished.

To loosen, pull on the loose part.

advantage

The advantage over its alternatives, the loom loop (on slip) or the round turn with two half-loops, is that it is easy to loosen. This is possible with a wet and cold (Low German: clammy ) hand with a short pull. The stek falls from the railing, the fender hangs on the hand and can be taken on board.
