Window cross (heraldry)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In heraldry, a window cross is a coat of arms figure , which is a square floating in the coat of arms with two equally sized square openings in two rows and tinged in one color. The color of the coat of arms is visible in the openings. This window cross is seldom placed on a corner, i.e. rotated by 45 degrees. The name of this figure is explained by the parable of a split window. In a square frame a continuous cross without a dividing line and everything in one color to the frame. The filling of the openings with other heraldic figures is unusual. The wheel cross is similar to this figure, only here the frame is a circular ring.
