The Firdausi University of Mashhad (FUM), also Ferdousī University ( Persian دانشگاه فردوسى مشهد), is one of the largest universities in the Razavi-Khorasan Province in Mashhad . The university is named after the great Persian poet and epic poet Abū l-Qāsem-e Ferdousī . It was founded in 1949, making it one of the oldest universities in Iran . With around 19,000 students, it is the largest university in northeastern Iran.
The university is the editor of several journals, including the Iranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences .
