Ferruccio Laviani (* 1960 in Cremona , Italy ) is an Italian architect and designer .

Life

Laviani began to learn the craft of violin maker in his hometown , but broke off the apprenticeship after a year. He went to Milan to there at the Milan Polytechnic to study architecture and design. His professors included Achille Castiglioni , Marco Zanuso and Ettore Sottsass . He received his diploma in 1986. In previous years he had worked for the designer Michele De Lucchi since 1983 and became his partner in 1986 before setting up on his own in 1991.

In the same year Laviani had his first success at the Salone internazionale del mobile with the planning and design of the appearance of the Italian furniture company Kartell . He continued to work for Kartell in the following years at trade fair appearances. In 2000 he developed the Fly ceiling light for the trade fair. In 2015, Kartell created the Battery LED bedside lamp , which can be recharged via USB cable, and the Kabuki floor lamp . Other well-known Lavianis models for Kartell are the Max table on casters and the Bourgie lamp . For the Italian Foscarini SRL he created the Orbital lamp, among other things .

Laviani lives with his family in the middle of the city of Milan and also works there with his twelve architects and designers.
