Ferrule

Ferrule (English for sleeve, clasp, sleeve, ferrule, ring fitting) stands for:

  • the end sleeve , for crimping flexible conductor ends; Connection of single wires to screw terminals, spring-loaded terminals in electrics
  • the guide tube for the fiber in the fiber optic connector of a fiber optic cable (made of ceramic, plastic, glass or metal)
  • the metal sleeve on a pencil that encloses the eraser
  • the metal ferrule of a brush that holds the bristles or hairs together and connects them to the handle
  • the connecting piece between the shaft of a billiard cue and the bitter orange, see cue (billiard) #The ferrule
  • the sleeve on a golf club over the connection between shaft and club head, see golf club # ferrule
  • Various fittings on the corpus of electric guitars , including for holding strings, neck and instrument cable socket
