Fixed barrier

Fixed barrier between the platform track and the construction area

A permanent barrier is a safety measure in track construction . It separates tracks that are being worked on from tracks that are used by trains with continuous spars.

In Germany, the upper spar of a solid barrier must be at least 75 centimeters above the top of the rail; a second stile prevents people from climbing under the barrier. The bars are usually red and white striped for better visibility.

In order to make the work area as large as possible, the fixed barrier is usually placed close to the clearance profile of the track being traveled on . For this purpose, the bars are mounted on holding brackets that clamp on the rail feet and run under the clearance.
