Damp room switch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A moisture-proof switch is a special switch for special purposes. It is manufactured in both a surface - mounted and a flush-mounted version.

Damp-proof switches have protection class IP-44, which means that they are protected against splashing water on all sides. Flush-mounted moisture-proof switches are mainly used in unheated and therefore damp rooms such as garages and cellars.

Surface-mounted moisture-proof switches are often used in rooms in which condensation can form and outdoors.

Damp-proof switches are used like light switches in an electrical installation to switch electrical consumers.
