Hinterer Grund is part of the municipality of the Saxon town of Marienberg in the Erzgebirge district .

Hinterer Grund is about 5 kilometers east of the mountain town of Marienberg. The few houses of the settlement are in the deeply cut valley of the Schwarzen Pockau . The 192 hectare nature reserve " Schwarzwassertal " begins south of the settlement . a. the Vogeltoffelfelsen and the Katzenstein rise.

Neighboring places to Hinterer Grund are Zöblitz in the north, Sprung in the northeast and east, Pobershau in the west and Rittersberg in the northeast. An extensive forest area seals off the settlement from the nearest places in the south and southeast.

history

The veins and mouth holes in the slopes south of the settlement are historically interesting. They are witnesses of a mining activity that continued until the 19th century.

In 1878 a road through the Schwarzwassertal to Kühnhaide was laid out by the forest administration ; due to the protection status of the valley section, it is closed to public motor vehicle traffic.

A hydropower plant is fed via an artificial ditch cut off from the Schwarzen Pockau.

The Pobershau nature conservation station, which has existed since 1995, is located in the Hinteren Grund. It is a contact point for nature conservation workers and those interested in nature. The "Förderverein Natura Miriquidica eV" was given the technical management by the District Office of the Erzgebirgskreis.
