history

Parish church statutes - at 850  m above sea level. NN highest Protestant village church in Germany

The first written mention of the place dates from the year 1501 - the place name is already spelled as it is today. With the Reformation in 1536/37, statutes belonged to the Parish Arnsfeld . The village church was consecrated on September 23, 1573, and was given its present-day form through renovations in the years 1754–56. The gilded weather vane on the east end of the roof is worth mentioning, showing a man with a backpack and a goblet in his hand. He is reminiscent of exiles from Bohemia who found refuge here. On January 15, 1967, a new organ was consecrated by the Jehmlich Orgelbau Dresden company . In 1584 the statute became a branch church of Arnsfeld and finally, on September 23, 1639, an independent parish with Steinbach as a branch church, until this was parish in 1901. As a result of the church struggle , the services of the Confessing Church were held between 1937 and 1940 in the nearby forest or in private apartments.

In 1777 the first precise land and border surveying took place, up to this point in time there were regular border conflicts with the Bohemian gentlemen von Hassenstein . During the Napoleonic Wars , French, Prussian and Russian troops regularly marched and plundered by statute. The statutes belonged to the office of Wolkenstein until 1856 . Prussian troops repeatedly occupied and plundered the town during the German War in 1866. At the end of the 19th century, a large part of the population worked as peddlers .

In 1910 it became a chartered climatic health resort, and in 1915 it was connected to the electricity network. As a result, an access road to the Hirtstein and a mountain hut were built in 1927. The place received a new town hall in 1939. In March 1944 the place was cut off from the outside world by heavy snowfalls with drifts, only a supply from the air was possible.

On January 1, 1994, the Hirtstein municipality , with its administrative headquarters in Reitzenhain, was newly formed from the previously independent municipalities of Rübenau, Reitzenhain, Kühnhaide and the statutes .

On January 1, 2003, the community of Hirtstein was incorporated into Marienberg.
