Erich Lang

Ernst Erich Lang (born December 15, 1895 in statutes , † September 25, 1940 in Olbernhau ) was a German homeland poet of the Saxon Ore Mountains .

Life

Lang was born in 1895 as the son of the teacher and cantor Ernst Edmund Lang and his wife Anna Lang, b. Müller, born in the mountain village of the Ore Mountains. He attended elementary school in his hometown from 1903 to 1910. From Easter 1910 to Christmas 1915 he was for preparatory training at the Royal Teachers' College in Annaberg .

From December 9 to 12, 1919, he passed the so-called electoral ability test, also at the Royal Teachers' College in Annaberg. The successful completion of this seminar enabled him to work as a teacher in elementary schools. In December 1919, Erich Lang got a permanent job in Olbernhau as an auxiliary school teacher with later promotion to auxiliary school senior teacher.

On February 28, 1920 he married Gertrud Seifert, daughter of a horse dealer and insurer from the statutes, in St. Anne's Church in Annaberg. The children Gottfried (* 1923) and Dieter (* 1926) emerged from this marriage.

In the mid-twenties, Erich Lang went public with his musical activities. So he worked z. B. in the Olbernhauer male choir "Harmonie" as deputy choir master. He was also staff leader in the men's choir "Eintracht", worked after the merger of all Olbernhau choirs on July 1, 1937 to the "Kretzschmar Choir" as deputy choir master, he was the head of the school orchestra and was in charge of the singing department of the Olbernhau folk play group. From 1933 until his death he was also the conductor of the church choir as well as organist and cantor in the church in Olbernhau .

On September 25, 1940, Erich Lang died at the age of 44 in the morning on the way to school. He left behind several well-known Advent and Christmas carols that are still widespread in the Ore Mountains and beyond.

Honors

An exhibition case is dedicated to him in the Heimatmuseum Haus der Heimat in Olbernhau. In addition, the pyramid built by Erich Lang himself, to which his song De Peremett refers, is exhibited on loan .
