Gerhard Pfeifer (oral surgeon)

Gerhard Pfeifer (* July 15, 1921 in the statutes ; † February 9, 2003 in Hamburg ) was a German oral and maxillofacial surgeon and university professor .

Live and act

After attending school in Wolkenstein, Zschopau and Grimma near Leipzig and Chemnitz , he was called up for military service after graduating from high school in 1940 . After brief captivity , he studied medicine and dentistry in Heidelberg from 1946 . During his studies he became a member of the Frankonia Heidelberg fraternity in the winter semester of 1948/49 . In 1952 he received his doctorate .

In 1967 he was appointed professor for oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and in 1970 moved to the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in the same function . In 1980 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
