Sorgau is a district of the Saxon large district town Marienberg in the Erzgebirge district .

Sorgau is located about 3 kilometers southeast of Pockau in the Ore Mountains. The location extends in loose development over about 3 kilometers on a slope that slopes northeast towards Flöha . About 1 kilometer south of the town center is the 684  m above sea level. NN high Annahöhe , southwest bordering thesis Forest to the hallway.
The district road 8112 Lippersdorf- Zöblitz runs through the village , and there is also a connection to Pockau, Blumenau and the federal road 171 near Grundau via municipal roads .

history

The first written mention of the place dates from 1540 as Nawesorge , in 1752 it was first written as Sorgau . With the Reformation in 1539, Sorgau came to the Parish Zöblitz. In 1764 a school house was built.

August Schumann mentions Sorgau in the State Lexicon of Saxony in 1824 concerning a. a .:

"The corridors are mostly from royal. Enclosed forest are not large, and have very mediocre soil. The place has around 70 houses. In 1801 there were 276 consumers; Now there are about 350 residents who belong to the Zöblitz church tour, and some of them are manufactured in wood. [...]
The raft masters of the Görsdorf-Blumenauer rafts lived here from time to time. "

In the work "New Saxon Church Gallery" from 1908 it says concerning Sorgau:

“Village with 484 inhabitants and a school (3 classes with a permanent teacher) [...] mainly does agriculture. But there is also a larger and several small box factories there, as well as the domestic industry, the manufacture of wooden objects, including toys. "

On the Morgensternhöhe west of Ansprung, a lookout point with an accommodation hut was built in 1911 by the Ore Mountain Branch Association Sorgau / Jump.

On May 1, 1974, Sorgau was incorporated into the municipality. Together with this it was incorporated into Zöblitz on January 1, 1999, and Sprung and Sorgau became districts of the town of Zöblitz. Zöblitz, in turn, came to Marienberg on December 31, 2012.

It was not until 1996 that every household was given the opportunity to have its own telephone connection. Until then, there were only two public telephone booths in the village.
