Dörfel is part of the municipality of the Saxon city ​​of Marienberg in the Erzgebirge district .

history

Former spring factory, today Scherdel

In 1970 the foundation stone was laid east of Dörfel for the " VEB Federnwerk Marienberg", at that time the largest employer in the city of Marienberg. In 1972 the first construction phase was completed and production started, in 1974 construction was completed. During the GDR era, around 1500 people were employed here. Before 1990, cold-formed technical springs, upholstery springs and safety elements dominated the production segment. The construction and project team received the GDR architecture prize for the design and integration of the factory facilities into the landscape.

After 1990, the approximately 30 hectare industrial area "Am Federnwerk" developed in the immediate vicinity of the company now trading as "Federnwerke Marienberg GmbH". At the moment, the Federnwerke Marienberg GmbH belongs to the Scherdel Group as its largest company . With around 550 employees, the plant mainly produces components for the automotive industry, such as technical springs, stamped and bent parts.
