The term fire drill generally refers to the way the infantry fires or shoots . In the narrower context, only the way in which the line infantry fired their shots in combat is meant. Examples of different fire drills are limb firing and the peloton fire , which slowly emerged in the British Army in the 17th century. Each nation often had its own fire drill.
