Fire Brigade Hotel Sankt Florian

function

The fire brigade hotel is owned by the Baden-Wuerttemberg State Fire Brigade Association, the sponsor and operator of the Baden-Wuerttemberg Fire Brigade Home Association. Members of this association are the Baden-Wuerttemberg fire brigades through the city and district associations. The fire department recovery home is located in the Hinterzarten-Bruderhalde district, but can only be reached from Titisee . It has 68 rooms with 126 beds. There are no other fire brigade facilities of this kind in Baden-Württemberg. The hotel primarily serves to relax and regenerate the approximately 177,000 firefighters of the Baden-Württemberg fire brigades from the efforts of the fire service and also to help them recover after accidents or to support stressful events. The district and city associations also receive free contingents for a stay. There are also opportunities for training and further education.

history

On May 10, 1956, the St. Florian Fire Brigade Recreational Home was inaugurated. The plans to build the house came from the fireman and architect Albert Bürger (1913–1996). In 1953 a building permit was granted for the building, although the building site had meanwhile become a landscape protection area. Fritz Köhler , member of the state parliament and chairman of the Baden-Württemberg Fire Brigade Home Association, obtained a loan of 400,000 DM from the state of Baden-Württemberg around 1958. It was later converted into a lost grant. In 2005 work began on fundamentally modernizing and expanding the rest home. The state government has promised a grant of 4.5 million euros. The state has thus recognized the public mandate that the fire brigades fulfill and also classified the social work of the state fire brigade association as worthy of funding. In 2007 the extension was completed. The Presidium and the Association Committee decided on November 10, 2007 to name the social welfare organization of the Baden-Württemberg fire brigades as the Sankt Florian fire brigade hotel.

museum

A small museum with historical fire fighting equipment and equipment is attached to the hotel. The exhibits on display show an excerpt from the 150-year tradition of fire services in Baden-Württemberg. Admission is free and the museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
