Fideliopark
The Fideliopark is a settlement in Munich .
location
The settlement is located in the Englschalking district in the 13 Bogenhausen district . It extends west of Freischützstraße from Englschalkinger Straße in the south to Fideliostraße in the north, from which it takes its name.
history
A brickworks built in 1864 stood on the grounds of the Fideliopark. Of the numerous brickworks that were built in the northeast of Munich in the 19th century, it was one of the few that was still in operation after the Second World War . After its closure in 1960, a development plan for a settlement was drawn up and approved in November 1965. The construction period lasted from 1966 to 1970, the developer was Neue Heimat .
description
The Fideliopark has an extension of about 700 meters in north-south direction and about 450 meters in east-west direction. Their area is about 32 hectares.
The settlement mainly consists of apartment blocks that are scattered in a green area. Point high-rise buildings stand along Freischützstraße. The tallest of the skyscrapers, it is located in the shopping center of the settlement, has 19 floors and was the tallest skyscraper in Munich when it was built.
Around 6000 people live in 1700 residential units in Fideliopark.
Infrastructure
A shop center and - on Knappertsbuschstrasse - a primary and secondary school were built together with the settlement. Even before the settlement was built, the school on Ostpreußenstrasse had stood since the 1930s - directly opposite the settlement - a work by Hermann Leitenstorfer ; today it serves as a pure elementary school.
On the north side of Fideliostraße there is a leisure home , a hill behind it, piled up from the excavation of the residential buildings, is used for sledding.
So far, the settlement can only be reached by public transport by bus; the implementation of an already proposed extension of the subway from Arabellapark to Englschalking with a stop at Fidliopark is currently not in sight.
