Figure 8 racing is an American motor sport that is driven on a racetrack that is shaped like an eight. The special feature here is that there is an intersection in the middle of the route without an overpass, so that when passing the intersection, there may be a collision with other vehicles coming from the side. Therefore, spectacular racing accidents occur again and again in this race. Such races take place, for example, in the Indianapolis Speedrome , which has hosted a world championship run every year since 1977. The winner is whoever crosses the finish line first after a predetermined duration of the race.
