history

In 1628 a Capuchin monastery was founded at this point on the initiative of the Kremsmünster abbot Antonius Wolfradt, but this was abolished in 1785 by Emperor Joseph II. The church was built between 1630 and 1631. In the same year, the monastery church was designated as the parish church of the second parish of the city of Wels (suburban parish). With the consecration of the Sacred Heart Church in 1911, the then suburban parish church became a branch church.
