Filly Funtasia is an animated series created by Jacob and Henrik Andersen for Dracco. The series follows filly Rose and her friends who attend a magical academy in the royal kingdom of Funtasia. It is based on the Filly franchise, which is very popular in Germany .
The series was originally produced by Dracoo Brands, BRB Internacional, Screen 21 and Black Dragon, but the last three companies stopped producing the series around 2016. Guangzhou Huamai Animation Studios and B-Water Animation Studios did not join production until much later, completing what the other studios had left behind.
After five years of development from 2014, when Filly Funtasia was originally scheduled to premiere, the series finally premiered on Frisbee in Italy on March 11, 2019. The show has been extended for a second season, which is expected to air in the summer of 2020 and will likely consist of the other 13 episodes ordered for the series.
The series has not yet been broadcast in Germany.

Rose, a unicorn mare, attends the Royal Magic Academy in the Kingdom of Funtasia. Her best friends - Bella, an elf filly, Lynn, a witch filly, Will, a fairy filly and Cedric, a prince - accompany her on her way to the extraordinary school to improve her magical skills, such as mixing potions. Rose also has to grapple with the daily school life of teenagers as she learns about the magical world around her.
Wranglum, an evil tree-like wizarding creature who is trapped in a "dark mirror" or a crystal prison, lives in the academy's basement. Battiwigs, a bat who is Will and Cedric's pet in the dorm, secretly works for Wranglum as his bumblebee and carries his master around. Wranglum and Battiwigs have various plans to try to steal crystals from the Academy so they can use their magic to rule Funtasia.
The concept of magic in Funtasia is widely used through their floating mirrors, which can be used by both high school students and non-school students. Mirrors have many capabilities, such as appearing and disappearing on command, lifting objects, communicating over long distances, and sending rays into the air.
