Financial Planning Standards Board
The Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) is the name of interest groups for professional private financial planners in several countries. They act as a non-profit organization and award their members the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certificate .
Every national FPSB is a member of the international umbrella organization Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. based in Denver, USA.
distribution
In 2013 there were organizations in seven nations that bear the designation FPSP: China, India, Indonesia, Ireland, the Netherlands, Korea and Germany.
In addition, there are organizations in 18 other countries that award the CFP certificate and member organizations of FPSB Ltd. are, but do not have the specific name FPSB, e.g. B. the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA), Österreichischer Verband Financial Planners, Association Francaise des Conseils en Gestion de Patrimoine Certifies (CGPC) or the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board USA).
tasks
As the exclusive licensee of FPSB Ltd., the respective national FPSB uses the CFP certificate and monitors its correct award and management. For this purpose, it accredits training programs of state and private educational institutions, so that their graduates can be certified for CFP upon application after successfully passing the certificate examination carried out by the FPSB itself. As of December 31, 2016, around 170,000 people worldwide were certified as CFPs.
Each FPSB draws up ethical rules for its members that define the professional profile of a private financial planner and oblige them to adhere to ethical rules. In recent years, these rules have been increasingly standardized internationally. To enforce this, the FPSB operates a court of honor , which can take disciplinary measures against a member in the event of violations of the code of conduct.
Through public relations work and the certification of CFP, the FPSB strives to raise awareness of the professional profile of a private financial planner and to sensitize the public to the importance of private financial planning.
