Financial equalization (France)

The financial equalization in France is an equalization between the different local authorities . Since 2003, financial equalization has been set out in Article 72-2 of the Constitution of the Fifth French Republic .

There are basically two variants of financial equalization in France:

In 2011, the financial equalization represented 28% (€ 52.5 billion) of the local authorities' resources, while 60% of their income came from their own resources (local taxes and other charges).
