Fingerprints is a heptalogy by the American writer Melinda Metz , who writes books for young adults. It is published in German translation by Egmont Schneider-Verlag . The first book was published in its original language (English) in 2001. It was then translated by Dorothee Haentjes and published in German in 2002.

Fingerprints is a series of books about high school student Rachel “Rae” Voight who develops a specific psychic ability: when she touches a fingerprint, she can “hear” the thoughts of the people who are thinking the moment they leave the fingerprint. When Rae discovers that someone is trying to kill her, she must find facts about the past to protect herself. She only has the help of her friends Anthony, who knows her mysterious abilities, and Yana, who does not ask uncomfortable questions.
