The Finland Institute in Germany ( Finnish: Suomen Saksan-instituutti ; sv Finlandsinstitutet i Tyskland ) is a non-profit forum for Finnish culture, science and economy in German-speaking Europe, based in Berlin . It was founded in 1994 as Finland's first cultural institute in German-speaking Europe. The institute is committed to creating encounters between experts from German-speaking Europe and Finland in order to promote long-term cooperation and the German-Finnish dialogue. To this end, it works together on projects with artists and scientists, but the focus is on the development of new content and fields of activity.

The institute is located not far from the Berlin-Friedrichstrasse train station at Friedrichstrasse 153 a / corner of Mittelstrasse; its premises are on the 3rd floor in the historical building of the Polish Pharmacy. Events

In its program, the institute reflects the diversity of Finnish cultural life. It works throughout the German-speaking area and enables young Finnish actors in particular to make their first contacts there.

The institute acts as a cooperation forum for scientific institutions, universities and colleges as well as research groups in Finland and the German-speaking countries.

When dealing with Finnish economic life, the focus is on creative industries, economic research and innovations.

Book corner

The Finland Institute has a book corner with seating for working and browsing as well as internet access. Works of various genres in German, Finnish and Swedish are available for loan. In the book corner you can find u. a. Fiction, non-fiction and children's literature, comics, poetry as well as newspapers and magazines.

Study and internship advice

The institute holds information events at universities, educational fairs, etc. Students who would like to complete part of their studies or an internship in Finland can obtain up-to-date information material or take part in a counseling session at the Finland Institute.

Traveling exhibitions

The institute's traveling exhibitions present selected topics from Finnish culture, society and history. The Finland Institute makes them available to its partners.
