Fiolax

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fiolax (Latin: Fiola; vessel) is a brand name of Schott AG , which is used for a type of glass for drug packaging.

In 1911 Otto Schott developed a borosilicate glass tube that was particularly suitable for the manufacture of ampoules. The glass was registered under the brand name Fiolax in the same year and is still one of the most important products of Schott AG at the Mitterteich location . Today it is used for the manufacture of primary packaging such as ampoules , vials , cartridges (for pen systems, among others ) and syringes . This borosilicate glass (neutral glass ) of the first hydrolytic class (type I glass) is suitable for storing sensitive pharmaceuticals, generics and modern biotech drugs, especially for parenteral use , due to its high chemical resistance, impermeability and strength . A brown version of Fiolax also offers effective protection for light-sensitive drugs.
