The First Division Monument is located in President's Park , south of State Place North West at 17th Street Northwest and West Executive Avenue Northwest in Washington, DC The monument is dedicated to the memory of those who while serving in the US 1st Infantry Division died are.

The monument in honor of those who fell in World War I was inaugurated on October 4, 1924. After the end of the Second World War , the memorial was expanded and the memorial for those who died in this war was inaugurated on August 24, 1957. The First Division Monument was expanded twice, namely for the fallen of the Vietnam War (inauguration August 20, 1977) and for the fallen of Operation Desert Storm (inauguration May 29, 1995).
