Ålesund Fisheries Museum

The Ålesund Fisheries Museum is a fishing museum in the Norwegian city ​​of Ålesund .

It is located on the south side of the city's port, right at the beginning of the pier at Molovegen 10 .

The museum is housed in a restored warehouse from 1861. The granary bearing the name Holmbua was spared the fire in Ålesund in 1904 and is one of the few older buildings in the city.

The museum deals with the history of fishing in Ålesund. The focus is on the production and export of clipfish and oil . In addition, the professions of cooper and block maker are presented. Cod liver oil is produced in a kitchen .

In 2009 an exhibition on deep-sea fishing was added.
