Fitness science

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The fitness science is an interdisciplinary science that sees itself as a subcategory of sports science. It covers the general areas of fitness, exercise, nutrition, athletics and health. Fitness science consists of various sub-disciplines of sports science. These include movement science, sports medicine and training science.

Task of fitness science

During the 20th / 21st Century, during the strong growth of the health industry and the fitness market, problems arose that had to be solved. Increasingly, statements were made in the health industry that could not be proven and that could be refuted using evidence-based work.

The growth of the health industry and the interest in evidence-based knowledge has resulted in the possibility of studying "fitness" and its sub-disciplines worldwide and / or of receiving adequate further training in these areas.

A fitness science advisory board was founded in 2018 and the first fitness science congress took place on February 24, 2018. The German Journal for Sports Medicine supported the congress and published the abstracts of the congress on its homepage.
