Peter "Fitti" Schmitz (born July 27, 1907 ; † unknown) was a German football player .

Peter, better known as Fitti Schmitz, played for 21 years as a midfielder and later as a striker for the Bayer 04 Leverkusen Werkself . Schmitz was seen as a robust player and good technician with a big fighter heart, who was described by the club as the "heart of the Bayer game". In the late 1920s and early 1930s, Leverkusen's footballers played exclusively in the third and fourth leagues until they were promoted to the district class in 1936 , at that time the second division among the Gauligen newly created in 1933 .

After the end of his career, he was still active for the old men and at an advanced age as a place manager at home games for Bayer 04.
