A flèche ( French : "arrow") is a particularly quick attack in sport fencing , in which the attacker throws himself forward with an extended arm. It can also be referred to as a fall attack or a run attack . The process of pushing off takes place with the Flèche with the front leg as a supporting leg, whereupon the weight is shifted forward. This can initially give the impression of letting go. This movement, however, is absorbed by the leg, which is also curved forward (swing leg), which leads to a very quick, first step supported by gravity. This first step follows u. U. a short sprint of a few steps until the enemy is within range of the weapon. The surface is particularly characterized by its explosive, jumping movement, which can easily be mistaken for a kind of running movement.

In saber fencing, it is forbidden to put the rear foot in front of the front foot and thus the classic flèche attack is not allowed.
