The flag of Paraná is the flag of the Brazilian state of Paraná . It was adopted on January 9, 1892 and modified somewhat in March 1947 and September 1990.

The design of the flag is based heavily on the Brazilian national flag . In the center is a blue circle on which the Southern Cross is depicted.

As on the national flag, the ball is severed by a ribbon. On this is the word "PARANÁ". The circle is surrounded by a branch of a pine tree (right, Araucaria angustifolia ) and a branch of the mate bush (left, Ilex paraguariensis ).

Color symbolism: green stands for nature, white for the peaceful spirit of the Paranaens.
