Flambart (boat type)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Flambart was a type of boat in the 18th and 19th centuries. In Normandy it was mostly used as an inshore fishing boat, but also in pilot and supply service. The open, mostly two-masted flambarts with spritsails were up to 8 meters long. There were also single-masted flambarts with square or gaff sails. At the end of the 19th century, Flambarts were also used as sea and river yachts .
