The Fletcher FL-23 is a two-seat liaison and observation aircraft produced by the American manufacturer Fletcher Aviation .

History and construction

The Fletcher FL-23 was designed as a result of a US Army competition for a new liaison and observation aircraft by the California- based Fletcher Aviation . The FL-23 was a cantilever high-wing aircraft with a fixed nose wheel landing gear and was powered by a 225 hp Continental E225 piston engine. The machine provided space for the pilot and an observer on tandem seats in an unusually generous acrylic glass cockpit to give the observer the best possible all-round view.

In the course of the competition, however, the tail unit broke off, so that the machine was badly damaged and had to be withdrawn. The Cessna 305A emerged from the competition as the winner.
