Air barracks Aspern

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Air Barracks Aspern was located in Vienna's 22nd district at the end of Pilotengasse at the confluence with Böckingstrasse.

The not yet fully completed Air Barracks Aspern consisted of the staff and a farm building and two crew quarters as well as a small guard building. It was obtained in December 1937 from Port Company 1, the Air Radio Company and the Headquarters Company of Air Regiment 1 of the Federal Army .

Additional buildings were still being planned when the German Wehrmacht took over the facility in 1938 . Despite severe damage from the war, the Red Army was still able to use the building complex at least partially.

After the conclusion of the state treaty, one of the buildings was in private use for around 20 years, but the rest of the buildings fell into disrepair.
