The Flying Dutchman ( English Flying Dutchman Funicular or Cape Point Funicular ) has been a funicular at Cape Point in Table Mountain National Park not far from the South African metropolis of Cape Town since 1996 . It extends over a length of 585 m, overcomes an altitude difference of 87 m from the valley station at 127  m to the mountain station and goes up to 214  m .

It is the only commercial funicular in Africa.
