aims

The aim is to promote young international artists who take up the ideas of the Fluxus art movement in their work and thereby keep the art movement alive. Historically, the foundation of the scholarship relates to the New Music Festival, which took place in Wiesbaden in 1962. This Fluxus event gave the new art direction for the first time a broad response and manifested Wiesbaden as the central location.

Work grant

The work grant is funded with € 10,000 and is aimed at young, international artists who use the ideas and working methods of Fluxus in their work and reflect them in a contemporary way. The work grant is awarded for three months from June to August. During this time, the scholarship holder will be provided with living and studio rooms in the NKV. Following the grant, an exhibition by the grant holder will take place from September to the end of May of the following year in the NKV , on which a publication will appear. For the duration of the scholarship, most of the scholarship holders stay in Wiesbaden. National and international artists aged 18 to 47 from the field of visual arts can only be nominated by selected curators and representatives of international art institutions with a focus on contemporary art. A personal application is generally not possible. The scholarship is open to all artistic media, including performative approaches.

nomination

In the following February, an independent jury will select the scholarship holder of the year from the nominated candidates. The jury is appointed by the NKV and the City of Wiesbaden and is composed of a representative of the NKV, a representative of the cultural department of the state capital Wiesbaden, a representative of the Berger Collection, Wiesbaden and two external consultants who change annually.
