Foodtainer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A foodtainer is a packaging and distribution medium for food. The word represents a neologistic Anglicism (from English food for food and container for container ). The foodtainer usually consists of a cardboard or plastic shell (e.g. made of polystyrene ) in which fruit, vegetables, pastries or meat are typically placed. This structure is completely welded with cling film. The packing is done by machine.

Tests with pepino fruits showed that the beta-carotene and chlorophyll content was retained when they were packaged in food containers .
