Force ouvrière

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Confédération générale du travail - Force ouvrière (CGT-FO; analogous German translation of the name: General Trade Union Confederation - Workers' Power), today usually called Force ouvrière (FO), is one of the four major trade union confederations in France . It is traditionally part of the moderate, social democratic left .

The reason for its creation was the dominance of the French Communist Party in the General Trade Union Confederation ( CGT ) after the Second World War . It was founded in 1948. It sees its goal in the defense of the ideals of the republic : freedom , equality , fraternity , secularism . The specialty of the CGT-FO lies in its party-political independence.

The CGT-FO is a member of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC). In the membership list of the IGB, membership is given as 600,000 (as of November 2017).
