The Forest of Dean Railway was a railway company in South Wales .

On June 10, 1809, the Bullo Pill Tramway was founded. The narrow-gauge route connected some mines in the forest of Dean with a quay on the Severn at Bullo Pill . The route ran from Bullo Pill to Cinderford . In 1814 the line was extended to Churchway.

On May 5, 1826, the company was re-established as the Forest of Dean Railway. On July 2, 1847, the South Wales Railway received the right to lease or acquire the company. The purchase took place in November 1849. The SWR subsequently rebuilt the line to 2.14 meter wide gauge and reopened the 11.7 kilometer long line on July 24, 1854 .
