In contrast to form casting , which adheres to a previously defined shape, shape casting is the casting of extrusion billets and rolling bars. This can be done in vertical or horizontal continuous casting and can be primary material (hence the term semi-finished product ) for the further manufacture of wires, tubes, sheets and profiles.
